Thinking about counselling?

Counselling. What is it?

Counselling, or therapy as it is sometimes called, is an organised meeting between a professional and the person who is seeking support with the goal of providing a non-judgemental and private space to talk through whatever difficulties the client is experiencing.

How does it work?

Different counsellors have different philosophies. Mine is that counselling works by the bringing together of the expert - you, an expert of your own life, and the facilitator - me, with my knowledge, training and experience. Research has proven counselling and psychotherapy to be highly effective. What makes the biggest difference of all is the professional and supportive relationship developed between client and counsellor.

What's the best way to get started?

Getting started can be the hardest bit. It involves "putting yourself out there" as it were, to contact someone whom you feel might "get you". It's always good to meet a few counsellors for an initial session and get a sense for who they are and how they work. The hope is that when you've met the right one, you'll know.

How do I book in?

The best way to book an initial session is by clicking here and completing the form . I will then get back to you to let you know when we can arrange an initial session.

How much does it cost?

Counselling sessions cost £55 for a 60 minute session. Most of my clients pay via bank transfer, which I ask to be made 24 hours prior to the session.

I also reserve 30% of my private appointments for clients on low incomes where I charge a reduced fee of £30 per session.
